For the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, the Diego Costa saga has been going on for far too long…
However, it is showing no signs of stopping anytime soon, with the Daily Star reporting that Antonio Conte may be left red-faced this summer. Clearly keen to get the Spaniard out of the door, it is noted that Antonio Conte will only get his wish this summer if Atletico Madrid come in for him, which may seem unlikely given their current transfer ban.
This would come as a huge blow to Chelsea’s summer plans, as Conte is likely placing a lot of weight upon the departure of Costa. Not only would his sale free up space in the squad for a new forward, but it would also give Chelsea more money to play with, whilst their wage bill would also go right down.
The good news for Costa is that whilst Atletico cannot register any players, they are able to sign them – and so a move could still come this summer, but he would be unable to play for his dream club for another 6 months.
Indeed, that situation may indeed be best for business, too, with Costa unlikely to feature for Chelsea should he remain at the club for a few months.
The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t sure that they can take another few months of this saga.
