When Eden Hazard suffered an ankle injury earlier this year, there was surprisingly a sigh of relief amongst the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern…
Of course, they were distraught that the Belgian could miss the start of the Premier League season, but there was a pretty large silver lining surrounding the incident. In theory, the injury ruled out a Chelsea departure for the Belgian – leaving many in the pub convinced that he would remain with the club through the summer at the very least.
However, that doesn’t appear to necessarily be the case – with Ok Diario reporting that a move from Real Madrid for Eden Hazard could yet happen this summer. Whilst Chelsea are expectedly unwilling to sell, it is said that Madrid will have big money to spend this summer – and Hazard remains a key target for the club.
Whilst this doesn’t mean that a move will happen, or indeed that Real Madrid will even make their move for the player, it certainly offers a reason for concern amongst the fans in the Transfer Tavern.
Hazard, of course, was one of their most important players last season – becoming a vital part of the Chelsea offensive threat. Alongside Diego Costa and Pedro, the Belgian was an unstoppable force – and he will be impossible to replace next season if a move were to happen.
