Sergio Aguero has been the talk of the Transfer Tavern over the last few days…
The Argentine is facing a relatively uncertain future at Man City at present, given that he lost his place at the Etihad last season following the arrival of Gabriel Jesus.
Though an injury to Jesus led to Aguero being recalled, it remains to be seen whether the Argentine will hold on to his place next season, which is a shame given how much he has contributed to Man City over the last few years. When Chelsea were linked with a move for him earlier this week, then, it seemed to make sense. Now, however, a deal is looking unlikely.
A recent report from the Times has served to indicate what Aguero’s standing could be next season, and it is bad news for Chelsea. It is said that Pep Guardiola is keen to keep Aguero at the Etihad next season, and as a result, he Argentine will not be sold this summer.
This will come as the latest blow for Chelsea as their pursuit of a new striker continues to hit the buffers. Romelu Lukaku recently moved to Man Utd, closing the door on a switch to Stamford Bridge. With Aguero now seemingly out of the equation, our landlord isn’t sure who else Chelsea can turn to.
That said, the Blues desperately need to sign a new forward – and Conte must find a solution.
