The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are really looking forward to next season…
The Toffees have enjoyed a very productive summer so far, establishing themselves as a financial powerhouse. Bringing in big names like Jordan Pickford and Michael Keane, it is clear that Everton are a team that are on the up – and next season will undoubtedly be one of real progression.
However, whilst supporters are in a good mood at present, Everton’s latest announcement will likely bring disappointment – as it involves some bad injury news for one of their most talented players. As confirmed on Everton’s official website, 26-year-old defender Ramiro Funes Mori has suffered an injury setback, and he will now be unavailable for another 6-9 months.
Funes Mori hasn’t played for the Toffees since picking up an injury in March, and he now looks set to miss out on the start of the new season too – with a 2018 return now looking likely.
This will come as a big blow for the club, as he has proven himself to be a reliable hand since arriving in 2015 from River Plate. He made 16 Premier League starts last season, and impressing throughout.
That said, with Michael Keane coming in over the summer, Everton aren’t short of defensive depth, and so Koeman should be able to manoeuvre around this blow.
