Bad news for Guardiola and Man City, club set to miss out on world class star

AlabaOur resident Manchester City fans have come into the Transfer Tavern today having been left frustrated with their 0-0 draw against Norwich, and they are set to be disappointed further after German outlet Bild reported that David Alaba is set to sign a contract extension.

The Blues have been heavily linked with the versatile full-back in recent weeks, in a move that would see him reunited with current Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola, who is set to take charge at the Etihad this summer.

Word amongst the Bundesliga punters over by the dartboard indicates that the Austrian defender is close to agreeing a renewed contract.

The new deal will see the 23-year old remain at Bayern until 2021 season, with his annual wage rising to around €12 million.

Our landlord believes that missing out on Alaba would be a huge blow for Guardiola and City, as he is an extremely versatile player, as well as being relatively young, making him a great long-term option!

Manchester City fans, would you have liked to see Alaba at City next season? Let us know in the comments below!
