The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are still waiting for a deal with Tottenham for defender Kyle Walker to come to pass…
However, it is beginning to look like a deal for the defender is going to drag on – and Man City’s reportedly impending capture of Dani Alves will likely have little impact. According to the Independent, Tottenham do not want to sell Walker for anything below their asking price this summer – which is currently set at the £50 million mark.
Previous reports had hinted that Tottenham would be unwilling to sell for anything below £45 million – but it appears as though the Lilywhites have upped the ante.
With Tottenham in no rush to sell, it looks as though Man City may well struggle to get this deal done anytime soon – with the Citizens’ brass unlikely to want to invest so heavily in the defender. Despite that, there is a real need for improvement at the back this summer, and so they will not want to waste much time.
That being said, the Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern would like to see Walker stay this summer. Though he struggled at points last year, there is no doubting his quality – and more importantly, many supporters don’t trust Kieran Trippier long-term.
