Bad news for Man Utd and Chelsea as race for key summer target heats up

Romelu Lukaku is a popular figure amongst the Man Utd and Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, with many supporters clamouring for him to move to their side this summer…

However, it seems as though the Premier League sides that are keen on the Belgian face a tough test to land him this summer, with Manchester Evening News reporting that German outfit Bayern Munich have joined the race for the talented forward. According to Manchester Evening News, whilst both Chelsea and Man Utd are keen to battle it out for Lukaku this summer, Bayern Munich are also keen – and it is noted that Lukaku’s father is keen on the idea of a switch to the German giants.

Bayern Munich, of course, have been one of Europe’s most successful sides over the last few years – dominating the German top flight and making a huge impression in Europe. The German giants would likely be able to offer Lukaku what he wants – in the form of regular trophies – given that Munich are undoubtedly the most impressive¬†side in Germany.

That being said, though, the Belgian is making a real name for himself in the Premier League at present, and so our landlord isn’t sure that a move abroad would be best for him at this point in time.

Whatever happens, there is no doubting how influential he would be at his final destination. Scorer of 25 goals last season, Chelsea could certainly utilise him as a Diego Costa replacement, whilst Man Utd will be looking to add a bit more firepower this summer following the expiry of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract at the club.

The Everton fans in the pub, mind, are just looking for a club to cough up as much money as possible – though they don’t want to see the Belgian leave this summer if they can avoid it.
