Bad news for Man Utd and Chelsea as transfer race for lethal forward begins to heat up

The Chelsea and Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern would both love for their sides to sign Alvaro Morata, but according to Marca, another side is reportedly in the fold too…

As per Marca, Italian outfit AC Milan have joined both Chelsea and Man Utd in the race for Morata, with the Spaniard reportedly the ‘number one’ priority for the Italian giants over the course of the summer ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

In truth, it is no real surprise that a queue for Morata is beginning to form, with the striker clearly one of the most talented in Europe. His lack of action in Spain could make him available this summer, whilst the 15 La Liga goals he has scored over the course of the past year highlight his lethality in front of the goal.

However, for both Man Utd and Chelsea, Milan’s arrival in the fold can only be a bad thing. Perhaps most importantly, it means that there is another team to compete with, and given that neither Chelsea or Man Utd have been able to agree a deal yet, that process is only going to be harder now. What’s more, increased interest could see Madrid demand an even higher transfer fee, making the deal potentially unfeasible for the clubs.

Morata’s future clearly remains uncertain, but for every club that joins the race, Chelsea and Man Utd’s jobs just get harder – and so our landlord thinks that this saga could now become a race to the finish line.
