Bad news for Man Utd as Red Devils are shut down in pursuit of 27-year-old

For the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern, a few more signings are still needed at Old Trafford…

It has been a very progressive summer at Old Trafford, but Jose Mourinho reportedly wants more.

Danny Rose has been linked with a move to Man Utd lately, and it’s a move that makes sense. The Red Devils lack depth on the left-hand side of the defence, and given that he is a proven defender with Premier League experience, Rose would be a perfect fit.

However, their hopes of landing the Tottenham defender have taken a hit today, with the Evening Standard reporting that Tottenham have told Man Utd that they have no chance of landing Danny Rose this summer. Rose, who has suffered with injury trouble over the last 6 months or so, is a key part of the team at Tottenham, and it is said that Mauricio Pochettino has been assured that he will not have to part with any more key figures.

The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are delighted with this, as they are growing increasingly concerned that their side is selling too many players instead of investing in new ones.

The Man Utd fans in the pub, though, are concerned, as they aren’t sure where else their club could turn.

Landlord’s Verdict

Man Utd will be frustrated that a move for Rose is unlikely, but that was always going to be the expected outcome. Tottenham would never want to sell to the Red Devils, and so Mourinho will likely have a few backup options in tow.

Whatever happens, it’s clear that the Man Utd defensive flanks are the weakest spots within the first team, and so a signing or two would be wise before the end of the summer.

They may have to look elsewhere for those targets, though.
