Bad news for Wenger as Chelsea could hold key in Arsenal pursuit for impressive midfielder

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are feeling very optimistic about their side’s prospects this summer…

Last season was undoubtedly one to forget for the Gunners, and the pressure will be on Arsene Wenger next season, but the Frenchman is a manager that thrives under pressure.

Plans for next season are already well underway, with the Gunners already confirming a deal for Sead Kolasinac earlier this year, but unfortunately for Arsene Wenger, his latest transfer plan could prove difficult to make happen.

Arsenal have been linked with Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar in recent weeks, but as of yet no move has materialised.

Unfortunately for the Gunners, according to Telegraph report Jason Burt on Twitter, that could be a big problem for the club – with Monaco reportedly not keen to sell both Bakayoko and Lemar in the same transfer window.

Bakayoko has, of course, been linked with a move to Chelsea lately, with the Sun reporting that the midfielder has already had a medical at Stamford Bridge.

If this is the case, this will come as a huge blow for Arsenal, with Lemar clearly a key target for the club this summer. He would, of course, offer so much to the team – alleviating the offensive pressure on both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil next season.

It would mark a worrying turn of events for Arsenal, with the Gunners desperately needing to improve their squad this summer. The side are so far behind the rest of the top sides in the Premier League, and so big names are needed – and they don’t come much bigger than Lemar.
