Bad news for Wenger in battle for Sanchez replacement

The Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are desperate to see so big names making their way through the doors at The Emirates this summer as Arsene Wenger looks to turn his side around after a tough time last season.

Despite winning a record breaking 13th FA Cup title, a seventh for Wenger, last season was far from a success for the Frenchman, bombing out of the Champions League in the round of 16 for a seventh consecutive year before finishing outside the top four for the first time in his time as manager in north London.

With that in mind a number of marquee signing have been eyed this summer, however, they could well face a battle to land one of their top targets this summer.

According to reports in the print edition of L’Equipe (via Get French Football), French champions AS Monaco have blocked any moves for winger Thomas Lemar, as well as Manchester City target Benjamin Mendy.

Wenger is supposedly eyeing a move for Lemar as a long-term replacement for Alexis Sanchez, with the punters here still waiting on news of the Chilean’s future.
