The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t feeling too confident ahead of their clash against Watford this weekend…
Though the Gunners have impressed over the last few weeks, fitness issues are likely giving Arsene Wenger a real headache ahead of the fixture.
The likes of Laurent Koscielny, Calum Chambers and, now, Shkodran Mustafi are all set to miss the game through injury, leaving the Gunners very short of options.
It was confirmed earlier this week by Sky Sports News that Mustafi would miss the game against Watford, and whilst that didn’t go down well in the pub, most fans were still hopeful of an imminent return.
However, now those hopes have been quashed, with Sky Sports News noting that Mustafi is now set to miss up to six weeks worth of action as he recovers. A hamstring issue is what is causing the layoff, and that is sure to concern Arsene Wenger.

Hamstring problems aren’t exactly something that can be worked on. Instead, it’s often just a case of resting it until the recovery happens naturally. Thus, for Arsenal, Mustafi and, indeed, Arsene Wenger – it’s just a case of playing the waiting game now.
Missing Mustafi for one game is bad enough, but now the fact that he looks set to miss out until close to December is a massive blow.
Arsenal have some very important fixtures on the horizon, and so this is a problem for Wenger.
Mustafi is likely to miss games against the likes of Everton and Man City in the coming weeks, and so it’s going to take all of Arsene Wenger’s knowledge to get past this.
The boss does have a few options, but any more injuries could leave his defence looking very bare indeed.
