We all know Gareth Bale’s performances this season have caught the eye of pretty much every top club at home and abroad, yet the speculation linking the Welshman with a big-money move has, until now, seemed to be just that: wild rumours with little substance.
Yet all that has now changed following an interview with Bale’s agent, Peppino Tirri, in which he affirms not only that several top clubs in Italy and Spain are interested in signing his client, but also that Bale is apparently keen to go!
Tirri told ilsussidiario.net: “I confirm the interest of Juventus for Bale.”
He added that the Turin club would make a move for Bale in June rather than January, and also that AC Milan and Inter have both shown interest, “partly because he would like to play in Italy in the near future. There are high chances that it can happen.”
Now, such a statement should not come as a complete surprise, given Bale’s outstanding displays against Inter in the Champions League, both at White Hart Lane and, of course, his hat-trick at the San Siro. It’s an Italian agent, speaking to the Italian press about interest in his player, from Italy – it could just be a way of keeping his client in the mind of Europe’s big spenders.
However, whatever the motivations behind Tirri’s comments, they won’t be welcomed by Tottenham fans, and it’s surely the last thing Harry Redknapp wants to hear.
Well, actually, no: THIS is probably the last thing the Spurs boss wants to hear:
“Also, Real Madrid are seriously trying, [Jose] Mourinho has his eye on him and the Spanish club would be the only one who can take Bale in January”.
Bale is contracted to Spurs until 2014, and it would take a hefty bid to make Harry even consider letting him go, but if the payer really is as eager to try his luck elsewhere as his agent suggests, the Spurs boss could be forced to let him go, and perhaps sooner than we all thought.
