Balotelli is here to stay, says Mancini

It’s a bit quiet in the Football Transfer Tavern today but there is some heated Manchester City debate by the darts board after Roberto Mancini dismissed claims that he wants to offload Mario Balotelli in January.

Reports had suggested this week that Mancini had given up with the Italian after another unimpressive display by Balotelli during Sunday’s loss to title rivals Manchester United with AC Milan said to be in pole position to take the volatile frontman back to Italy.

However Mancini has insisted there is a future for Balotelli at the Etihad Stadium.

“Balotelli is not for sale,” Mancini told talkSPORT. “Mario is a City player, he is loved by the fans and the management. He has been an important player for us.”

Despite this the Italian manager did admit that Balotelli needed to improve, saying: “A player of his quality should think exclusively to his work and his family, he has talent and he cannot blow it as he is doing. Our paths may separate if I change team, but he will remain at City.”

Balotelli is a controversial character but there is no doubting his quality on his day. He was a crucial part of the move that brought about that goal by Sergio Aguero on the last day of the 2011/12 Premier League campaign whereby City beat QPR and snatched away the title from the hands of cross-town rivals Manchester United.

Do you think Mancini is right to keep Balotelli at the club or it is time to let the temperamental striker depart? Vote in our polls below.
