The greatest night in the clubs history was achieved in the Nou Camp and was made possible by some of our players best ever performances. Here are our player ratings from our Champions League semi-final victory (draw) :
Cech = 9 – A string of great saves from Messi amongst others and perfect leadership from the back.
Ivanovic = 8 – Started the game well at right back but performed miracles at centre back alongside Bosingwa after Cahill’s injury and Terry’s red card.
Cahill = 6 – Didn’t last long enough to judge his performance. Shame as his first leg performance was outstanding.
Terry = 4 – A silly, reckless red card which could have let the team and the club down. We all have moments of madness and this was totally uncharacteristic.
Cole = 8 – Simple, proved he is the best left back in the world. No competition.
Mikel = 7 – Did his job effectively but did get caught in behind once or twice.
Meireles = 7 – Covered the most ground which shows he worked very hard, which saved him as he gave the ball away alot.
Lampard = 9 – Simply took on the role of captaincy after Terry’s dismissal and ran the midfield. Great ball for Ramire’s goal.
Ramires = 9 – Bags of energy and a world class finish to change the whole complection of the tie. Did a wonderful job at right back.
Drogba = 9 – Lead the line better than in the first leg and defended very well when called upon.
Mata = 7 – Did very little with the ball but worked very hard which is against his nature and instinct.
Bosingwa = 8 – Looked more capable at centre back than at right back and credit where its due he defended brilliantly.
Kalou = 7 – Defended well but didnt offer the threat he was brought onto do. Bottled his chance when it came.
Torres = 8 – An out an out striker brought on to play left back did wonderful. Spotted his chance when Barca left no one back to round the keeper and score a goal worth £50m.
