Gareth Bale looks set to stay at Spurs following keen interest from Barcelona, but are the Spanish giants simply tempting fate by possibly giving up on the Welsh flier?
After a great deal of interest in Tottenham’s wonderboy Gareth Bale, Mirror Football reveals that Barcelona are ‘ready to pull the plug’ on their attempts to sign the talented Welsh international.
It emerged over the past few months that Barca’s sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has had his sights set on Bale for a while, but with a price tag in excess of £50million, it didn’t look so easy to tempt Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy into separating with his most prized asset.
Mirror Football are now saying that Zubizarreta now believes that Spurs are not willing to sell Bale just yet, or even put any potential deal out of their league. Now with Barcelona supposedly looking elsewhere, it is believed that AC Milan’s Thiago Silva is next in Andoni’s firing line, the Brazilian centre back showing huge talent and still great potential.
It has been hinted however that Barca’s apparent withdrawal from Bale may be a ploy to entice the defender, and Spurs into signing a last minute deal. Whatever the situation, for now Bale continues to shine at Tottenham.
