As one of our punters quips here in the Football Transfer Tavern, Barcelona have quite the history when it comes to losing young stars to Arsenal, and according to the Daily Mirror, they will do everything in their power to prevent it from happening again.
Young starlet Antonio Sanabria has been linked with a switch away from the Camp Nou, and of course Arsene Wenger is the manager leading the pack to sign the highly rated youngster.
The problem for Barcelona is that Sanabria has a £2.5 million release clause in his current deal – and it is one that Wenger is more than willing to pay that for the star.
The 17 year old is currently on a deal that runs until 2015 and is well aware of the interest coming from other clubs in Europe.
Whilst he is keen to stay at Barcelona, he is well aware of how hard it is to break into the first team and would consider a move elsewhere should the opportunity present itself.
Arsenal are known to be one of the best clubs around when it comes to giving rising stars a chance and Sanabria is aware of this. Catalan Giants Barcelona are now willing to offer an extended deal until 2019 which would of course include a much bigger buyout clause.
Will Sanabria become the latest young Gunner? Let us know your thoughts below.
