Fans of both our Merseyside clubs are looking slightly worried here in the Football Transfer Tavern as the Daily Express seem to think Barcelona are keen on two of their greatest players.
The Catalan club are, according to Xavi, keen on both Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling, who has of course been heavily linked to Real Madrid and also Ross Barkley, who has been so in demand that Everton boss Roberto Martinez has come out and warned his potential suitors off him.
Xavi was asked if he felt either player could fit in with Barcelona’s style of play and was emphatic in his answer, claiming: “Yes.
“I think that they could. They have incredible physical capabilities and they are good technically.
“In Spain, we prioritise players who are technically gifted but both things are very important in football.”
Now the majority of our punters are actually quite keen to see both Sterling and Barkley stay in England given they are some of the brightest young players we have in the country – and are a joy to watch when they are on form.
Not to mention the fact that it would be a crying shame to see both confined to the bench at the Camp Nou!
