It was a quite surprise to Arsenal supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern when Laurent Koscielny was linked was a move away from the Emirates Stadium earlier this week.
It was reported by various media outlets that both Bayern Munich and Barcelona wanted to sign the French defender this summer and that the Gunners would consider any offers.
However in news that has pleased Arsenal punters The Sun has now suggested that the 27-year-old is actually happy to remain with the club despite interest from abroad.
Koscielny’s agent, Stephane Courbois, had gone some way in fuelling a summer move for his client by admitting that he was the target for some of Europe’s top clubs. But the former Lorient centre back has now told Arsene Wenger that he is not seeking to leave this summer and he is satisfied with life at the Emirates Stadium.
The French international arrived from Ligue 1 in a £8.5 million deal three years ago and has since become part of the first choice defence after forming a strong partnership with German Per Mertesacker who Arsenal can ill afford to lose.
