Arsenal fans are looking slightly nervous here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed by the Daily Express that the club could well be set for a major battle if they wish to secure the services of French international Jeremy Toulalan.
The midfielder is set to depart from current club Malaga this summer and now it seems that it is not only Arsene Wenger has his eye on the player. Malaga’s fellow La Liga club Atletico Madrid are also about to make a play for the midfielder and are determined to land him.
The player is technically under contract at La Rosaleda until 2015 but will almost certainly be leaving this summer and as his agent claimed, he is not short of top quality offers. Mikael Manuello told L’Equipe that: “Atletico are putting a lot of pressure on Jeremy, but it is also true that he has other concrete options.”
Of course the Vicente Calderon-based club can offer the player the certainty of Champions League football – something that Arsene Wenger cannot yet guarantee and for a player of Toulalan’s standards, this is something that is as close to a necessity as you can get.
Can Wenger work his magic and land Toulalan? Are the Gunners even interested at all? Rate this rumour below.
