At the last minute, Bayern Munich are set to try to steal away Edin Dzeko from Manchester City. Wolfsburg, having agreed to sell Dzeko for £27 million on Sunday evening, have now been approached by Bayern Munich with a fee matching that of City’s and with a sweetener in the deal, they will let Dzeko move in the summer, spending the rest of the season with Steve McClaren.
But does the former wally with the brolly need the money now, to strengthen mid-season?
Yes, just when you thought it was safe to go back into the transfer market, the longest running saga since ‘Who Killed Dirty Den?’, has taken another twist with Bayern coming back in for the Bosnian hotshot. And with Juventus still interested, the story could still have some legs in it yet.
The situation has been further confused by negotiations over Dzeko’s wage demands. Reports emerging from Germany today state that Dzeko has snubbed the offer of £150,000 a week in the hope of holding out for an improved £175,000, how greedy can you get?
So, where will he go? Will City cave in to player power? Or will they stand firm and miss out on their long-standing transfer target? Bayern are keeping a close eye on the outcome…
