Bayern Munich could offer Toby Alderweireld way out

One of Tottenham Hotspur’s international stars could be offered a way out of White Hart Lane this summer.

According to a report in The Daily Mirror, Toby Alderweireld is being chased by Bayern Munich this summer, as they look to replace Jermone Boateng.

They have placed the defender on their shortlist as they look to consider their options and see the 29-year-old as a potential solution, should their own centre-back leave the Allianz Arena for Paris Saint-Germain.

Alderweireld is believed to be keen on leaving Spurs this summer and was heavily-linked with a move to Manchester United, however, things failed to materialise before the transfer window slammed shut.

However, he may have just been handed a lifeline by the Bundesliga outfit, with their deadline to sign players not until the end of August.

The defender could end up remaining at White Hart Lane, as Mauricio Pochettino did not make his own additions this summer and he could be given a chance to prove he can become an important member of the team once again.

The Verdict:

It would not come as a surprise if Alderweireld did leave Tottenham this summer, especially with the idea that he wants to depart.

Tensions between the player and the club have been high, with the Belgium international rejecting the offer of an extended contract and having seen his first-team football limited during last season.

However, it is a new campaign and Pochettino could be prepared to turn to the 29-year-old and use him more frequently, or with a couple weeks left of the transfer window, he may decide to let him go, should an acceptable offer come in.
