The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern were celebrating another big win over the weekend…
It’s been a stellar few weeks to be a fan of the club, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side continuing to impress at the helm of the London-based outfit.
Huddersfield were swept aside on Saturday afternoon, and with Chelsea losing to Man City in the late kick-off, Tottenham now find themselves ahead of the reigning Premier League champions.
In truth, Tottenham are looking better than ever, and that has got fans dreaming of glory this term. It is this glory that BBC Pundit Garth Crooks has described as a defining factor in the legacy that this Tottenham team could leave behind.
After placing a number of Tottenham players in his Team of the Week, Crooks has heaped praise upon the club, whilst also stating that more must be done if they want to go down in history as a successful team.
He said: “There is only Manchester City who can live with the football Spurs are producing at the moment, and if they could transfer that into silverware… this could be the best Spurs team”.
It’s certainly a bold proclamation, but it’s hard to disagree. Tottenham are playing sensational football, and their results are improving too. In terms of individual players, they’re probably already at that stage, but as a collective team, trophies are what matter.
However, with the club now in third place, surely a title challenge is forthcoming?
Tottenham are certainly title contenders this season, but as we have seen over the last few years, they have a real problem keeping this pace up all season long.
They need to keep winning in anticipation of that inevitable dip, but so far, they are doing everything right.
With competitions going well on all fronts, it’s been a perfect start for Tottenham.
