BBC pundit: Liverpool fans may be forced to prepare for a major exit this summer

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern were in awe of Mohamed Salah over the weekend. He bagged four sensational goals for the Reds as they stormed to victory against Watford, with Jurgen Klopp clearly very fortunate to have a player of his calibre turning out at Anfield.

However, following the game, BBC pundit Garth Crooks has some bad news for Liverpool fans. After placing Salah in his Team of the Week, Crooks has revealed that he expects Real Madrid to come calling this summer.

Crooks said: “Liverpool fans may have to brace themselves, however, for an audacious bid from Real Madrid in the summer.

He continued: “This lad is having the same impact across Europe as Gareth Bale had in his final season at Tottenham. And we all know what happened after that”.

Salah has been in fantastic form this season, but his display over the weekend was arguably his best yet. Having bagged four goals and an assist, Watford stood little chance with the Egyptian in fine form.

He has now bagged 28 league goals this season, so there is no doubting what a vital acquisition he was for the Reds.

Real Madrid would be very lucky to have a player of his quality, and so, as Crooks says, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them move for him. Whatever happens, though, the Reds must resist.

Landlord’s Verdict

Losing Salah would be a disaster for Liverpool. With Naby Keita set to join this summer, there is a sense that they are really a team on the up – and Salah’s departure would take them more than a few steps backwards.

That said, he has a long-term contract at Anfield, and so Liverpool won’t be forced into a corner.

There is reason to be concerned, though.
