BBC Pundit makes surprise Tottenham claim, Arsenal fans won’t be happy

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been pretty disappointed with Mesut Ozil’s performances this season, but not many were expecting this…

BBC Pundit Garth Crooks has delivered a surprising claim regarding the German in his Team of the Week, suggesting that the German may well be better off at Tottenham next season. He said: “[Ozil is] a player…[that] would be more appreciated at a club like Tottenham…frankly it is a better fit”.

Crooks has really generated a bit of discussion in the Transfer Tavern, though very little of it is overwhelmingly positive. Unsurprisingly, the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been riled up – and have been quick to state that they think that the Gunners are a bigger club than Tottenham.

That being said, you can certainly see where Crooks is coming from. Tottenham are a side that play football in a very similar way to Mesut Ozil’s natural style. Heavy on passing and movement, there is no doubting that Ozil would be impressive in Tottenham’s first team – though you could argue that on current form, he would struggle to get in the side.

Ozil’s performance against Stoke was uncharacteristic this season – because he was very impressive. The German has struggled for much of the campaign, so the Gunners are hoping that his impressive display against the Potters is a sign of things to come.
