BBC Pundit: Tottenham star must do this if he wants to become world-class

The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are delighted with Harry Kane’s fine form, but according to BBC Pundit Garth Crooks, the Englishman still has something to prove before he can be defined as world class…

After naming the striker in his team of the season, Crooks was anything but satisfied: “The 23-year-old definitely has the potential to be world class…But not yet”.

“Robert Lewandowski, Didier Drogba and Thomas Muller have all been, or are, world class but all won trophies to demonstrate the fact”, he added.

This is certainly a relevant comment, as whilst Kane has been excellent this season – trophies are still lacking. Whilst strikers like Drogba have won the Premier League several times, Kane has been limited to just posing a threat to the title – and that is just not good enough.

Kane certainly isn’t far off being world class, though, with the Englishman likely able to walk into many of Europe’s top sides.  Of course, he has won the golden boot this year, with a remarkable 26 league goals, and that is a terrific record – but there is much more for the Englishman to accomplish.

That being said, Tottenham are clearly a side on the up. For a while, they were the most effective team in the Premier League, and Chelsea were only able to stay ahead because they were so good themselves. Next year could be a career defining season for Kane and company, and if the Englishman really wants to take his game to the next level – trophies must follow.

Our landlord thinks that Tottenham could have a hard time holding on to him if trophies don’t come soon, though…
