A firm favourite in the Football Transfer Tavern, the future of David Beckham has been the topic of debate for many a night in recent weeks. Today’s Mirror Football article claims that Beckham will move to China to play for Shanghai Shenhua next month has and this report has ignited heated discussion.
The article reports that the 37-year-old will be offered a whopping £250,000-per-week deal to make the move to the Far East but Beckham would stand to make far more than his weekly wage as he will use the opportunity to bring brand Beckham to China.
The former England international, who has left LA Galaxy, would join up with Chelsea legend Didier Drogba who made the switch to China due to the lucrative wage package on offer in the summer.
The Mirror reports a source as saying: “David always said he wanted one more challenge and he loves the idea of playing in China.
“It will undoubtedly make him a global star. It is also appealing to Becks as it is very different to anywhere he has played before and he is keen to promote football in places where it isn’t particularly high-profile.
“He is so passionate about the game and likes the idea that he can share that with people who don’t already appreciate it.
