Becks hoping to lure others to the MLS

BECKHAMREUTERS_2218113bEveryone drops their pints and offers their full attention in the Football Transfer Tavern, as Tom Hopkinson of the Daily Mirror offers an exclusive on former England captain David Beckham.

Becks is reportedly hoping to convince four big name England stars to follow his path and join the MLS, once he has sorted out his own future.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid man has offers from all around the globe, but is not expected to make a final decision on his future until mid-February.

But once his future his decided, Becks will turn into an MLS recruitment officer and look to persuade the likes of Steven Gerrard, Ashley Cole, Peter Crouch and Michael Carrick to see out their careers across the pond.

MLS executives are aware the players are not likely to make the move whilst at their peak, but hope with the help of Beckham, some at least will be persuaded to see out their careers state-side, whilst potentially earning between £3 million and £4 million a year.

An MLS source said: “With the wages, lifestyle, and anonymity the world’s top soccer players have playing in the MLS, it makes it an ideal destination for them to finish their careers.”

Beckham meanwhile is attracting attention from the likes of Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain, Aussie side Perth Glory and Chinese outfit Shanghai Shenhua.
