News from Metro frustrates Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern as they are reminded they cannot recall Divock Origi in January after he was imminently loaned back to Lille following his signature in the summer.
Brendan Rodgers will not be able to call upon his £10 million signing any time soon as he is desperately seeking more firepower up front with Origi scoring four times in 13 appearances for the Ligue 1 club.
The 19-year-old was rewarded for his impressive performances at the World Cup with a move to Liverpool but was immediately loaned back to Les Dogues.
And with the absence of Daniel Sturridge and the lack of goals from Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert, reports suggested Rodgers was planning to recall the youngster.
But Lille are adamant Origi is staying put as their boss Rene Girard tried to quash the rumours.
Girard said: “It’s just a rumour. There is not truth to my knowledge. It was agreed that Divock would stay the year with us. There is no reason he would leave midway through the championship.
“They have failed to score at Liverpool? Us too. We need him a lot.”
