Belgian set for Chelsea stay?

lukaku.jpgIt is an interesting time for Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern and it seems that Sporting Life feel that it is also interesting for their players – none more so than the Blues’ Belgian international forward Romelu Lukaku.

The former Anderlecht man has of course spent a very successful season on loan at West Bromwich Albion and impressed so much so that a host of clubs are begging to take the big forward on loan for next season with Swansea City and West Ham United reportedly leading the pack out of the Premier League clubs.

Not only this but the player has been linked with a  move to German runners-up Borussia Dortmund and now claims that his future at Stamford Bridge will have a lot to do with the new manager.

As we all know now, Mourinho is manager elect at Stamford Bridge and will arrive as soon as his contract with Real Madrid is officially terminated on the 3rd of June. Given that the powerful Lukaku is very Didier Drogba-like in terms of his powerful style, with the Ivorian representing one of Mourinho’s very favourite players, as one punter quips, it would not be a surprise to see Mourinho opt to keep the player or send him out on loan for one more season and Lukaku will not make any decisions until he has spoken to Mourinho himself. The player noted: “I want to play as much as possible. I want to have a good World Cup so need to be ready.

“Chelsea? It depends on Mourinho, if he takes over, and what he has to say.”

When Mourinho comes in at Chelsea, will Lukaku feature in his first team plans? Let us know your thoughts below.
