Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be delighted that their club have secured their status in the Premier League, and will be expecting some new additions to join the team to help them build on their first year back in the top-flight.
Locals will be hoping the club can tie down the future of Rafa Benitez as well, with talks set to take place once the season ends, however, the Spaniard has already been planning for the future and has told a number of players they do not feature in his plans.
The Magpies will have a number of players returning to St. James’ Park following loan spells next month, such as Jack Colback, Adam Armstrong and Jamie Sterry to name a few, and the manager has confirmed that they will need to return to the academy, as he will find it difficult to accommodate them in the senior side.
“Some players will come back,” he told the Chronicle Live.
“I need to have a meeting with Steve Nickson and Ben Dawson about it.
“At the moment we don’t need more bodies because everybody is available.
“We even have a problem when we play 11 vs 11 in training because somebody is left out.
“In terms of competition, it’s difficult for them.”
Newcastle fans in the Tavern will trust what Benitez decides is best for the club and will find it difficult to argue with him about the returning loanees. The locals may feel that the returning players will no longer be able to offer anything and will be hoping the Magpies can cash in on them to help fund new additions this summer.
