The Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern want to see some investment in their squad this month. Although a potential takeover remains on the table, the Newcastle fans know that Mike Ashley has to dip into his pocket and give Rafa Benitez some funds this January to improve the squad in order to ensure survival in the top flight.
Newcastle are after players who will add some attacking bite to their squad. The Magpies have only netted twenty goals in their opening 22 games and a new striker and some attacking midfielders are the priorities for Benitez.
They have been looking at Chelsea youngster Kenedy but perhaps they should instead be asking about Charly Musonda on loan. Musonda is highly rated by Chelsea but they are open to sending him out on a temporary basis because of the lack of playing time he is getting at Stamford Bridge.
The 21-year-old impressed for Real Betis on loan last season and he has been one of Chelsea’s best academy performers in recent times. He has pace, trickery and the ability to take his man on and beat him.
Although he has a lack of Premier League experience, the Belgium under-21 international would add competition for places in Newcastle’s attacking regions and he could provide that extra special spark which could get Newcastle scoring freely again by setting up chances and scoring goals himself.
Newcastle need new additions and Ashley is reluctant to invest a lot of money. So a loan swoop for Musonda could be a cheap, short term solution which could keep Newcastle in the Premier League.
