Sunderland look poised to sign Manchester City’s Benjani for a cut price deal of £1.5million according to the Daily Mail. Sunderland are looking to strengthen their strike force with rumours of Kenwyne Jones looking to be move to Liverpool.
The 31 year old has become disillusioned with life at Eastlands where he has struggled for first team action. Benjani is seen to behind Emmanuel Adebayor, Carlos Tevez and Roque Santa Cruz for Manchester City strikers and is looking for a way out with first team games his priority.
The Zimbabwe centre forward had earlier this week had talks with West Ham and was set to join the London club but seems like talks failed and Sunderland are the latest club to set to have talks with the striker. This is the second striker this week to not join the Hammers after having talks with Eidur Gudjohnsen joining Spurs instead. Benjani was also wanted by Birmingham, Blackburn and Turkish side Galatasaray.
[Is there any substance to this and should this rumour Fly or Die?]
