Manchester United target Karim Benzema has further fuelled claims that the Manchester club will attempt to snap him up after voicing his displeasure at not playing a more prominent role at the Bernabeau.
Sir Alex Ferguson refused to meet Lyon’s valuation of the 22 year old striker this past summer thus Benzema joined Real Madrid but the forward has found chances hard to come by especially with Gonzalo Higuain being in scintillating form. Benzema has not started for Real since November 21st against Valencia and spoke of his disappointment in French paper L’Equipe,
“In a way, yes, I am disappointed to have become a substitute…I am working hard to convince the coach that I can be trusted. I am experiencing a time when I am a substitute at the moment, but it is up to me to find a position in the starting XI again.”
These words will surely please Fergie who is still in the hunt for the striker who has scored 6 goals in 18 appearances this term. And as it is being reported that there will be a clear out at Old Trafford with striker Dimitar Berbatov especially in line for the chop, Benzema could be the man to step in and fill the void.
