While it is still early days at Everton under Marco Silva, the team's struggles both in attack and defence will come as a worry to supporters.

In their 3-1 defeat to West Ham at Goodison Park last weekend, Everton were wasteful in front of goal with both Cenk Tosun and Oumar Niasse missing good opportunities.

And if things do not change in that department, Silva may have to try something more innovative going forward, which could involve summer signing Bernard.

The Breakdown

The Brazilian impressed after coming on towards the end of the first half in Everton's recent loss, and Silva has confirmed he is prepared to throw him into the deep end despite not being at one hundred percent match fitness.

Speaking ahead of the Arsenal game, Silva told reporters (via Sky Sports): "Bernard can help with everything we need.

"In his first 50 minutes he did well, he had a good impact in a difficult moment in the match. He is a different profile from the other wingers in our squad. A quality player and he will help us. If I need 90 minutes, he is ready for what I need."

With £14.4m-rated (via Transfermarkt) Bernard now available, Silva should strongly consider bringing him into the attack in place of Richarlison or Theo Walcott then move one of the two up front.

Centre-forward has always been Walcott's preferred position, while Richarlison did an excellent job playing there for Brazil during the last round of international fixtures.

There is still plenty of time for Tosun to find some form, of course, but the availability of Bernard can provide Silva with alternative options until then.
