Best England Goals. Ever. So Shaddup.

As England prepare to have another go at making the last eight of a World Cup, we look back at some of most impressive goals the Three Lions have ever scored.

David Platt v Belgium (1990)

England had played roughly 119 minutes against Belgium in this second round World Cup tie against Belgium. The game was heading for penalties before Platt’s ballerina-like swivel and thunderous finish booked our place in the Quarter Finals.

Paul Gascoigne v Scotland (1996)

Words don’t do Gazza’s sublime finish any justice.

Michael Owen v Argentina (1998)

Owen’s brilliant combination of speed and control almost makes you forget our painful exit at the hands of the South Americans.

Joe Cole v Sweden (2006)

A rare highlight of a very ordinary-looking England World Cup campaign in Germany four years ago.

John Barnes v Brazil (1984)

Barnes became a victim of over expectation after scoring one of the greatest ever individual goals at The Maracana.

Steven Gerrard v Germany (2001)

The goal that sank German hearts in Munich by putting England in a 2-1 lead just before half time.
