Manchester City have developed a reputation over the last ten years for being a club that uses money to solve their problems. The club have spent huge money on a number of marquee signings, however, with the club’s revolutionary new academy system starting to churn out players, more talents like Phil Foden are starting to come through and challenge the club’s senior players for places.
Foden was apart of England’s U17 World Cup winning side in summer 2017 and it looks like he’ll be able to continue his progress into the Manchester City first team and beyond. The 18-year-old is just one player in a talented generation of young Engish players, alongside the likes of Jadon Sancho, Angel Gomes and Rhian Brewster, who have all been touted to make their mark in European football in the future.

Getting Foden through into the first team has to be a priority for city. Local lad making it through the academy will have a huge impact on the rest of the youngsters and the image of the club. Managed properly and not overhyped we could really have a gem on our hands

Average player. Messi, Mbappe, etc. were superstars by the age of 18.
