‘Better than Janssen’, ‘Good news’ – Tottenham fans react to striker’s fresh update on future

The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern have surprised a lot of people with their positive reaction to the news that Fernando Llorente will remain at the club next season. Reliable Twitter account, Hotspur Related, has tweeted quotes from the Spaniard in which he states he intends to honour the final year of his contract.

No one out there is claiming that Llorente had a good time at Tottenham last season. The striker struggled to adapt to life under Mauricio Pochettino as he was mainly used to deputise for Harry Kane. That being said, having a former World Cup winner in your side does have its benefits and some of the more reasonable Spurs fans are prepared to offer Llorente a second chance.

The 6’5″ striker scored 15 goals for Swansea the season before he made the switch to Tottenham. That was mainly because the Swans played to his strengths and used his abilities as a target-man to bully opposition centre-backs, something which simply hasn’t happened at Tottenham. However, Llorente has had some positive moments in a Spurs shirt: scoring against his former club in the Premier League and bagging a hat-trick against Rochdale in the FA Cup stand out as particular highlights.
