‘Better than Jesus’ – Liverpool fans on Twitter really are feeling very proud indeed

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been given another reason to look forward to the World Cup in Russia this summer as Roberto Firmino has been called up to the Brazilian national side. Fans have been reading the news on the Liverpool website as they look ahead to the start of the tournament on the 14th June.

Whilst Firmino’s inclusion into Brazil’s World Cup squad is a big achievement for the forward when you consider his current form it’s no surprise at all to see him included. The 26-year-old makes up one-third of Liverpool’s scintillating three-pronged attack alongside Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah and he’s bagged an impressive 27 goals and 17 assists in his 53 appearances for the club in all competitions this season.

Firmino will be keen to celebrate his inclusion in the squad, although, at the moment he will be fully focused on the Champions League final in Kiev in 11 days time. Liverpool travel to the Ukrainian capital to take on European heavyweights, Real Madrid. Zinedine Zidane’s Madrid have won the tournament two years on the bounce and if they can best Firmino and co at the Olimpiyskiy they’ll be the first side to win three straight European Cups/Champions League titles since Bayern Munich in the early 1970s.
