The Spurs fans in the Transfer Tavern have been raving over the performance of Jan Vertonghen in the club’s 2-0 win over Watford last night on Monday Night Football. Goals from Dele Alli and Harry Kane gave Spurs the win although Vertonghen was at his best as he swept up at the back and could’ve finished the game with both a goal and an assist to his name too.
Jan Vertonghen needs to be our back-up striker.

In the second-half of Spurs win, Vertonghen rose the highest to meet a Christian Eriksen free-kick, although he could only hit the woodwork, whilst later in the game, the classy Belgian defender found himself on the edge of Watford’s box and showed how good his ball control is when he played the ball in for Kane to put past Orestis Karnezis, albeit if the clinical England man was offside and the goal was disallowed.
Jan Vertonghen has played 34 games this season, only missing out on Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace in February. In the absence of Toby Alderweireld, having a defender that possess the quality of Vertonghen has been key to Spurs’ season. The Belgian has been without his regular partner in Alderweireld and has had to play alongside Davinson Sanchez in the Colombian’s defender debut season in North London.

Jan should be the club captain
We should just clone Jan.
