‘Better than Neymar’, ‘Future legend’ – Chelsea fans laud wonderkid on Twitter after professional debut

The Chelsea fans were pleased with their side’s performance against Newcastle United yesterday, and they were equally as pleased to see Callum Hudson-Odoi make his professional debut for the club.

Antonio Conte’s side comfortably secured their place in the FA Cup 5th round draw with a 3-0 victory over The Magpies yesterday afternoon. Michy Batshuayi took full advantage of a rare start in Chelsea blue as he bagged a first-half brace to put his side in cruise control at Stamford Bridge. Marcos Alonso scored a delightful free-kick in the 72nd minute to put the tie beyond Newcastle’s reach, and Conto used their comfortable lead as an opportunity to hand Callum Hudson-Odoi his first-team debut for the club with just 9 minutes of regulation time to play.

Hudson-Odoi is just 17-years-old, but he has been widely tipped for huge success in the game by those who have worked closely with the England U17 star. Since he was promoted to Chelsea’s U23 side at the beginning of the season, Hudson-Odoi has scored 10 goals and assisted 4 from just 13 appearances, so it’s easy to understand why his reputation is rapidly on the rise.

In the aftermath of proceedings, the Chelsea fans took to Twitter to heap praise on their future star and congratulate him on a monumental occasion for their academy prospect.

And a handful of the supporters urged Conte to resist the urge to send him out on loan and ensure that he gets the opportunities he deserves in the first-team during the seasons to come.

Here’s what the Chelsea supporters had to say about Hudson-Odoi following his cameo appearance against Newcastle…
