The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been raving over their former midfielder, Abou Diaby after the Premier League tweeted a video of his stunning strike against Derby as the goal of the day. Arsenal quoted the tweet, mentioning Abou Diaby in it as the fans came flocking in to throw praise at the midfielder, who suffered a tough time in North London with his awful injury record.

On his day, Abou Diaby was on par with some of the Premier League’s best midfielders and without his crippling injury list he could well have gone on to equal some of the feats achieved by Yaya Toure, who is a very similar player in terms of style to what Diaby offered in his short career with Arsenal and Marseille before he had to retire owing to injury at the start of the 2017/18 season.
Arsenal could do with a midfielder who possesses the qualities of Diaby. The current crop of Arsenal players lack the dominance that Diaby had when he was out on the pitch. The fans would have hoped that Granit Xhaka could provide that when he joined from Borussia Monchengladbach back in summer 2016, although it hasn’t been the case as the Swiss international has proved to be a liability for The Gunners, lacking the temperament and defensive know-how to thrive in the Premier League.

He was the best french player at 2010 world cup. And the most skillful arsenal player in that current squad.
