‘Better than Pogba’ – Man City fans delighted by French midfielder agreement on Twitter

The Manchester City fans are intrigued by the latest reports from France which claim they have secured the signature of PSG’s wonderkid Claudio Gomes. 

Pep Guardiola’s side have dominated the headlines in recent days due to their pursuit of Athletic Bilbao centre-back Aymeric Laporte, but it appears that the defender is not the only Frenchman who will be joining City this year.

According to Footmercato, 17-year-old Claudio Gomes will move from Paris-Saint Germain to Manchester City at the end of the season. The French journalist Loic Tanzi shared the news regarding the relatively unknown youngster on Twitter yesterday.

The holding midfielder is certainly an acquisition for the future, and it seems likely that he will move on loan after joining Man City whether that be to Girona or another club. Gomes has plenty of experience in international youth level football having been capped plenty of times for both the France U16 and U17 sides, and the fact he is now captain of the U18 squad suggests he is  destined for a bright future in European football.

Judging by the reaction on Twitter, it seems that most of the City fans have never even heard of Gomes, but those who are aware of his potential are delighted with their club’s shrewd signing.

And plenty of the supporters are hoping that Guardiola’s personal involvement in the deal implies that the Spaniard is set for a lengthy stint as manager of Man City.
