The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been waxing lyrical over one-third of their outstanding three-pronged forward line, Sadio Mane. The Senegalese sensation scored his 20th goal of the season when he prodded home Virgil Van Dijk’s header four minutes after Karim Benzema broke the deadlock in the second half.
Understandably went under the radar but Sadio Mane’s goal in the final was his 20th of a superb individual season.
Thought he was terrific on Saturday. pic.twitter.com/efA09GCj9x

Sadio Mane’s equaliser, whilst it was only in vain, was his 20th goals of the season in all competitions and his 10th in the Champions League. After Mohamed Salah came off injured following a dubious challenge from Sergio Ramos after the half an hour mark it left the responsibility for Liverpool’s attacking threat on the shoulders of both Mane and Roberto Firmino.
Whilst the threat of Mane was consistent throughout, his goal wasn’t enough to help Jurgen Klopp’s men get past Zinedine Zidane’s Los Blancos on Saturday evening. On paper, Liverpool never stood a chance against the talents of Real Madrid. The Spanish side made it three Champions League wins in a row when the final whistle went in Kiev, although the majority of Liverpool’s stars left the field with their heads held high, none more than Mane, who will be looking forward to the World Cup with Senegal.

Mane played better than Ronaldo today..

In re-watching the game, they were all terrific. Oddly enough Karius had done well up until his brain explosions. Just so disappointing the mo salah injury robbed everyone of a completely different game (which we may still not have won) – but needing to change formation cost us

He was immense. And the fact he wanted to leave a mark on Ramos for what the Spaniard did to Salah was equally impressive. Fight for your team. Fight for your teammates.

Mane been overshadowed by Salah but was immense v Madrid. Only real player who took it to them when Salah went off.

Sadio was outstanding!

He was man of the match up until Bale. He absolutely roasted Carvajal anytime he came near him. Got to the point him and Varane were doubling up on Sadio.

The whole team played well. Without the obvious errors it was 1-1. (No blame). Love to see the team ethics and huge improvement in a season.
