Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are delighted to see their star players performing well at the 2018 World Cup and our punters reckon England can go all the way.

Harry Kane currently leads the scoring charts with six goals, averaging a goal every 46 minutes for the Three Lions. Kieran Trippier is also enjoying an excellent tournament at right-back and looks to have justified Spurs’ sale of Kyle Walker to Manchester City. Our punters were also glad to see Eric Dier step up to score the winning penalty against Colombia.

While England’s success has been great to watch, our regulars are starting to worry at the lack of transfer activity at White Hart Lane. Mauricio Pochettino is yet to make a signing while their Premier League rivals have significantly strengthened their squads. With the window closing before the start of the season, time is starting to run out.

One man Tottenham should attempt to bring to the club is Benfica full-back – Alejandro Grimaldo. With Danny Rose’s future at the club still uncertain, the Spaniard would be the perfect replacement. Valued at £18m by Transfermarkt, he made 28 appearances in LIGA NOS last season, scoring once and registering four assists.

The ex-Barcelona man has the potential to be world-class. Grimaldo is a huge threat going forward, creating 1.47 chances per game last year (Squawka). With bags of pace, the Spaniard is great on the ball and delivers excellent crosses. He would slot seamlessly into Pochettino’s side.

At times, his defence can be questionable, but the Argentinean manager would be able to develop that side of his game. At just 22-years-old, he could become a Premier League great.
