The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to the news in The Sun that their 20-year-old USA international defender, Cameron Carter-Vickers has signed a new deal at the club, keeping him in N17 until 2021. The young defender has been on-loan at both Sheffield United and Ipswich this season and has impressed in the Championship, scoring a single goal.

The young Carter-Vickers is yet to make a name for himself in North London under Mauricio Pochettino. The defender has seen his opportunities limited, leading to his loan spells this season. However, Poch obviously sees something in the player as this is the second three-year deal he’s offered the player after the 20-year-old signed a deal until 2020 in summer last year.
At the age of just 20, Carter-Vickers has his whole career ahead of him, and with Toby Alderweireld set to depart the club in the coming months, it could see the USA international be more of a chance in the club’s first season at their new ground. He’ll have his work cut out though, with Jan Vertonghen, Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier and Juan Foyth all ahead of him in the current pecking order, plus the likely signing of Ajax’s Matthijs De Ligt further knocking him back.

Cameron Carter Vickers has done well on loan at Ipswich worth putting in the squad on his return
