Beware Chelsea fans: Sky pundit reveals what would shock him when the Blues face Man City

Chelsea are set to take on Man City on Sunday in a game that could have huge ramifications in the context of the season. Chelsea and City are eyeing two very different goals, but a result, either way, could have a domino effect in the Premier League.

Indeed, if Chelsea win, Man City run the risk of falling behind Liverpool in the title race once more, whilst the Blues will retain their spot in the top-four.

However, if Man City win, Liverpool will be under further pressure to keep up their pace at the top of the table, whilst Arsenal and Man Utd will be encouraged in their pursuit of the top four.

It’s a crucial game, but Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson isn’t expecting it to end well for the Blues.

Merson has predicted a 3-1 win for Man City, and he’s said: ‘I think City will win this as I just do not see how Chelsea defensively can keep them quiet on their ground and the way they pass and move it. Marcos Alonso plays as a No 10 and will be bombing forward, while David Luiz will either be a 9/10, or a 3/10!’

He added: ‘I would be shocked if Chelsea got anything from this game.’

Clearly, Merson isn’t convinced by Chelsea, and why would he be? The Blues have been so inconsistent all season long, with their loss against Bournemouth last week serving as evidence for that.

Conversely, City have been brilliant as of late, and they’ll be hungry to avenge their loss against the Blues earlier this season.

However, it would be foolish to rule out the Blues. Gonzalo Higuain has made a good start to life in London, and when you have players like Eden Hazard and Pedro, anything can happen on the big stage. Of course, they beat Man City earlier this season brilliantly, and so they know what they’re doing in that regard.

It’s going to be an exciting fixture, but it’s evident that Merson is expecting it to only end one way.
