Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been flirting with our barmaids in their bid to find some positives this season and although their approaches were met with rounds of laughter, there is better news on the transfer front.
Metro state Chelsea have made an offer to Paris Saint-Germain for midfielder Marco Verratti, as they look to save their faltering Premier League campaign.
The 23-year-old ace is highly-rated and would be the perfect replacement for the underperforming Cesc Fabregas, although Mundo Deportivo state Barcelona are in the hunt and have the Italian on their radar.
Whilst Chelsea are in a better financial position to Barcelona, their approach may have hit the rocks with it being indicated that Verratti is not keen on a move to England– which would shatter the Blues’ plans.
Chelsea currently sit 16th in the Premier League table with 15 points, just one-point above the relegation zone, and could find themselves in the bottom three if results go against them this weekend.
It’s clear the Blues need wholesale changes in January but Verratti probably isn’t their man and Jose Mourinho, should he keep his job, will have to look elsewhere.
