Southampton fans in The Transfer Tavern are discussing reports that the club have made a bid for a non league youngster.
The Gloucestershire Echo is reporting that the Premier League side have made a bid for 16 year old Cheltenham Town prospect Luke Thomas.
A fine string of performances by the youngster had gained interest from many Premier League sides, but Southampton are the only ones to bid a rumoured five figure fee.
Thomas attracted the attention of Portugese giants Benfica during the summer that resulted in a trial with the club. Since returning from Portugal the youngster has been a regular trainer with the senior professionals.
The winger has been in fine form so far this season for Cheltenham’s Under 18 side and has managed to score 14 times already, including six in the FA Youth Cup.
Southampton fans in The Transfer Tavern are delighted the club have bid for the youngster, and hope that he will reach his full potential with the club’s academy and turn out for the first team sometime in the future.
