The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern really want to see Ross Barkley join the club this summer, and they have received a boost in that regard…
Speaking ahead of Everton’s final game of the season, Toffees manager Ronald Koeman has discussed Barkley, who Tottenham have reportedly been monitoring, and has hinted that the midfielder could leave this summer: “No [I’m not confident that he will stay]…Because it’s a long time that he’s thinking about his future”.
With a contract still yet to be signed by Ross Barkley, and his current deal set to expire next season, it appears as though the English midfielder’s future may well finally get resolved soon.
For Tottenham, it will come as no surprise to learn that the club are keen, because Barkley is undoubtedly one of England’s top young talents. On his day there is nobody better in the Premier League, and Mauricio Pochettino will likely be the boss to bring the best out of him.
You only have to look at the vast success that Tottenham have had with young English talent lately, notably Harry Kane, Eric Dier and Dele Alli, to recognise that a move to White Hart Lane will only be a positive step for young Barkley.
The Tottenham fans in the pub love it when English players are given a chance at their club, so they’re delighted at this update and are hoping this deal gets tied up quickly.
